Your world is unique to you, and how you experience it is through your 5 senses; sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. These are the “language of the senses” that our brains use to record our experiences. And this information from your brain, is what your mind uses to create your thoughts and as a result, your understanding of the world.

In NLP we call this “Your map of reality” as each of us creates our own personal map of the world we are living in. It’s our world, not THE world. And because it’s your experience, you have the ability to change your perspective of it and how you respond to it. You just need to be shown how…

Now to explore this idea that we construct our own reality. And more importantly, how we can stop replicating those things we don’t want, and start building the life we desire.

As we have learnt, your mind skilfully processes the information gathered by the 5 senses and constructs its view of reality. This amazing process occurs continuously, 24/7, and has been ongoing since birth.

The majority of this happens outside of our conscious awareness, but every piece of data is meticulously processed and stored in our unconscious mind.

Think of it this way, within each of us lies a remarkable library of every single life experience; every sight, sound, taste, word, touch and sensation you have experienced has been, and continues to be, stored within your unconscious mind. This incredible collective of data acts as our manuscript for life.

Problems arise when this script is no longer relevant, causing repetition of thoughts and behaviours that aren’t beneficial. Put simply, this is when our life story needs to be edited with updated information, which can then bring about true and lasting change.
